Lenten Reflection Series FAQs
What
is the Lenten Observance Reflection Series?
The
Lenten Observance Reflection series, a DVD-assisted
reflection on the readings for the Sunday Masses,
is designed to foster individual and small group spiritual
formation during the Season of Lent.
In
this series, Bishop Alvaro Corrada, SJ presents six
ten -minute
video segments that focus on our Communion in Chris
t,
Jesus’ invitation to “Live on in My love.” (Jn.
15:9).
The
DVD is accompanied by printed resource materials offering
suggested topics for discussion, meditation, and prayer.
Materials can be reproduced for each group/participant.
Weekly
Bulletin Inserts are available this year, and every
parish is encouraged to take advantage of these inserts.
Whether inserted in the bulletin or distributed separately,
this series reminds Catholics of some very important
tools for living our Christian life.
How
to use Lenten Reflection program in your community?
Before
Lent (Ash Wednesday is Feb. 6), it is recommended
that a parish program coordinator register participants
and assign them to small groups of 6-10 people. This
allows for multiple group meetings within a parish
community at varying times and on different dates.
Groups are encouraged to meet in the participants’
homes or at the church. The format can also accommodate
large groups with participants gathered at tables
for small group discussion.
Encourage
existing bible study and prayer groups to use this
program during Lent. Individuals and families can
be encouraged to use the video and resources in their
own homes.
How
do I get it started in my community?
- Order
the DVD, download and reproduce resource materials;
- Find
a parish program coordinator to handle publicity,
register and assign participants to small groups,
and recruit small group facilitators for each group;
- Announce
Lenten series to parish with Bulletin and/or pulpit
announcements; invite and encourage participation
in this Lenten Observance;
- Preview
the video and resource materials and make preparations
for presentation of the program;
