Office of Youth Ministry Announces “To the Heart” Retreat

High School-aged students from across the Diocese of Tyler are invited to attend the 2015 “To the Heart” Retreat, Fr. Justin Braun, director of youth ministry, has announced.

The theme “To the Heart” is to not only to focus on keeping Christ in our heart, but also to live out our baptismal call as Catholics to witness to the truth from our hearts that are filled by the Holy Spirit. This is why we pray, “Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful…”

The retreat will be held January 2-4, 2015, at The Pines Catholic Camp near Big Sandy.  The cost is $100 per attendee.

“This is going to be a great way for our high school youth to start a new year off in the right way,” said Fr. Braun. “We are going to focusing on making Christ the center of our lives while having fun, listening to some great speakers and enjoying our time together.”

The retreat will be led by youth ministers from around the diocese.

Attendees should plan to arrive at The Pines by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, and can be picked up at Noon at Sunday, Jan. 4.

This is the first youth retreat officially sponsored by the Diocese in the past number of years, and the Diocese hopes to make it an annual event.
