The Official Diocesan Civic Holiday/Holy Day schedule for 2018 has been announced:

Wednesday/July 4 – Independence Day
Wednesday/August 15 – Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Friday/November 23 – Thanksgiving
Monday/December 24 – Christmas Holiday
Tuesday/December 25 – Nativity of the Lord
Wednesday/December 26 – Christmas Holiday
The St. Philip Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization will host several Diocesan Teaching events across the Diocese of Tyler in January and February. These events will focus on the themes of “How the Early Church was Catholic” and “Water to Wine: The Transformative Power of Catholic Matrimony.”
All are invited to join Bishop Strickland and the Institute staff. Each event will conclude with a holy hour and confession, followed by Mass with Bishop Strickland.
After due consultation and prayerful reflection, and in order to provide for the proper care of souls entrusted to him, Bishop Joseph E. Strickland is pleased to announce the following pastoral assignments and appointments for the Diocese of Tyler. All changes are effective Jan. 19, 2018, unless noted.
Rev. Jose Kannampuzha assigned as Pastor of St. Jude Parish in Henderson (from Pastor of St. Andrew Parish in Lufkin).

Rev. George Elliott assigned as Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Nacogdoches. He will continue as Chaplain to St. Mary’s Campus Ministry at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Rev. Stephen Duyka assigned as Parochial Administrator pro tempore of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Atlanta. He will continue as Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart Parish in Atlanta.
Rev. Christopher Ruggles has submitted his resignation as Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Nacogdoches and Dean of the Southeast Deanery for health reasons.
Rev. Daniel Gonzalez has submitted his resignation as Pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Atlanta. Father Gonzales has been assigned to exercise priestly ministry for the Missionary Society of St. James in the Territorial Prelature of Sicuani in Peru.
