On Friday, October 13th, the centennial of the Miracle of the Sun and the final apparition of the Blessed Virgin at Fatima, St. Peter Claver parish in Tyler will host a showing of “The 13th Day”, a film about the events at Fatima. The showing will be 7-8:45 pm in either the St. John of the Cross room, or the parish hall, depending on turnout.
Bishop Corrada and his family are ok. Thanks be to God, Mayagüez was spared from catastrophic damage as a result of Hurricane Maria.
Our Seminarians who are studying in Mexico City and their families are ok. They were all a bit frightened, but didn’t suffer any injuries and are not displaced as a result of the earthquake.
Bishop Carmody has reported that the city of Corpus Christi and the diocesan offices are pretty much back to normal; although, the school in Rockport was completely destroyed as a result of Hurricane Harvey.

Bridging the Gap: Special Needs Ministry
This workshop will provide the participants new ideas and techniques in ministering to families with special needs and disabilities. Luci Holloway with Loyola Press will be with us and have available all the adaptive resources for faith formation for individual or parish use. Five locations in the diocese have the kits Finding God Adaptive Resources; Seven locations have the Sacraments adaptive kits.
Bishop Joseph Strickland and Father Joshua Neu, SSL, will be participating in the “Perspectives on the Reformation” theological discussion events in Tyler.
The 6 weekly sessions on the Reformation at the Foundry Coffee shop in downtown Tyler will be from 7:00 pm to about 8:30. Various religious leaders in Tyler will share perspectives and insights on the Reformation.
