This feature highlights how the 2015 Bishop’s Annual Appeal will support youth ministry in the Diocese of Tyler. To learn more, visit dioceseoftyler.org/ourmission.
Building the faith in our youth is critical to strengthening our world and building up our culture both for now and the future.
Young people have a deep longing to know the truth, to know the friendship of God, and in the words of Deacon Marty Flynn, Director of youth ministry in Sacred Heart in Palestine, “somebody needs to be there to give it to them.” Funds from the Bishop’s Appeal give Bishop Strickland the ability to allocate resources to this important mission.
Early in 2015, Mr. Mark Knox was hired by the diocese to initiate the Youth Ministry office for the Diocese, a ministry tasked with coordinating, promoting, and building up youth activities and ministries across our 68 parishes and missions.
Across the country, we consistently see the positive impact of Catholic retreats, mission trips, fellowship and catechesis in helping young people know Jesus Christ and to follow him in the service of the Church, the family, and the country.
We need to do more, and can do more with your support. We need to be bold in our efforts to share the beauty of the Catholic Church with those young people who most earnestly yearn for it. With your help, the Diocese of Tyler can continue to grow youth ministry.
