This October, Cardinals and Bishops from across the world will gather in Rome for the Ordinary Synod of Bishops. This Synod will be considering the vocation and mission of the family both in the Church and in contemporary society.
The Vatican has a working preparatory document (called a lineamenta) that is composed of the concluding report from the 2014 Extraordinary Synod and forty-six questions about the state of marriage and family life.
All of the Catholic faithful and people of good will are invited to respond to the questionnaire. Your thoughtful response will help inform Pope Francis, Bishop Strickland and the bishops of the Synod about the challenges faced by today’s families and enable them to discuss and develop appropriate pastoral solutions.
The response from the Diocese of Tyler will be shared with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and will then be incorporated into a document that will be forwarded on to the Vatican for use at the Synod. Responses may be submitted individually or as a group.
Bishop Joseph Strickland encourages all interested clergy, religious and lay faithful to offer their insights and comments on this important topic.
