Job Posting: Associate Director of Development: Planned Giving & Community Relations

The Diocese of Tyler is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Associate Director of Development for Planned Giving and Community Relations.

Position Summary

The Diocese operates on the financial support of our parishes, individual donors, and partnerships with several foundations and grant providers. The Diocese of Tyler’s annual appeal has seen significant growth in recent years. The task of the Associate Director of Development is to build upon this success by growing key permanent and capital funds of the East Texas Catholic Foundation (ETCF). Specifically, the position’s role will be to solicit and steward planned/major gifts, and promotes the ETCF to the greater community.

This position is ideal for a dynamic Catholic professional who is dedicated to the salvific mission of Christ’s Church. This position is also ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, meeting new people, and working within a small team. As the development of the Diocese of Tyler continues, this position has great potential to increase in responsibility, scope, and impact over a number of years.

Principal Responsibility

The Associate Director is responsible for the strategy, planning, marketing, relationship building, and execution of community events and marketing strategies to promote the East Texas Catholic Foundation and planned giving. This person will solicit prospective donors to give to the local Church they support, as well as spread the message of the importance and successes of our ministries and programs.

Specific Duties

• Develop positive relationships with Bishop, Vicars, Vocations Director, Clergy, seminarians, key Chancery staff, Foundation board members, and the community in order to foster cooperation, trust, and commitment to the growth of the Church.

• Strategize for, design and manage Planned Giving programs and Foundation events for parishes, schools, and other ministries.

• Build great relationships with donors, financial professionals, parishes. Identify needs of donors and ensure good communication and stewardship of their planned gifts. Provide feedback and reports to donors. Follow up and go the extra mile for donors.

• Community Relations: Create more opportunities for the Diocese in general, and the East Texas Catholic Foundation in particular, to engage with donors, community leaders, and other key internal and external stakeholders.

• Plan and prepare meaningful opportunities (offerings) for individual donors to impact the ministry of the Church and solicit gifts.

• Be a model of integrity, fiscal responsibility, and commitment to the Catholic Church. Represent and act as an ambassador for the programs of the Diocese of Tyler and the East Texas Catholic Foundation.

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required
• At least 2 years of significant marketing, sales, and/or fundraising experience

Compensation

Comprehensive Health and Dental: Employee-only premium paid 90% by Employer. Dependent Coverage available at Employee expense via payroll deduction.
403b Retirement Account: Optional Employee contributions matched by Employer up to 4%
Life & AD&D: Provided by Mutual of Omaha, coverage 1.5X  salary up to $75,000.
Personal and Vacation: 10 Vacation days, 9 Medical, and 3 Personal.
