The Faith Formation Office of the St. Philip Institute held a Catechist Training Seminar St. Therese of Lisieux in Center, TX on February 19th. Forty catechists from the Southeast Deanery participated.

Catechesis learned about the history and development of Eucharistic theology, beginning with an overview of Scripture and leading to the Church’s definition of the dogma of the real presence. Dr. Luke Arredondo, the Director of Faith Formation for the St. Philip Institute gave presentations alongside Phillip Smith from Sacred Heart Parish in Nacogdoches, and Teresa Ramirez from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler. Presentations were given in both English and Spanish.

Special thanks to Fr. Nelson Munoz, pastor at St. Therese of Lisieux, and Rosa Barbee, Director of Religious Education, for their hospitality hosting the seminar!

The next Catechist Training Seminar will be on Saturday, March 12th at St. Joseph Parish in Marshall. For more information, visit the St. Philip Institute events page.
