The diocesan Catholic Schools office will host two free webinars on the Texas Education Freedom Accounts to provide program details and information on the application process.
The Texas Education Freedom Accounts, also known as the Education Savings Account (ESA) program, provides parents of students in non-public Texas schools a publicly funded, government-authorized savings account with restricted, but multiple, uses for their children’s education. Parents may use the funds to pay for eligible expenses including school tuition, school breakfasts and lunches, uniforms, tutoring, online education programs, therapies for students with special needs, textbooks or other instructional materials.
Qualifying students enrolling in an eligible school can receive up to $10,000. Homeschooling participates in the program can receive up to $2,000.
The Texas Education Freedom Accounts create the possibility for an affordable path for Catholic education for many families in East Texas.
This webinar will answer questions such as:
- What are the Texas Education Freedom Accounts?
- Who is eligible for the program?
- How much is available to each child and family?
- What does the program cover?
- How do I apply for the program?
The first webinar will be in English on Tuesday, November 11 at 6:00 p.m., hosted by Dr. Darbie Safford, superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Tyler.
The second webinar will be in Spanish on Tuesday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m., hosted by Fr. George Elliott, pastor at St. Boniface Catholic High School in Nacogdoches.
