Cycle Prep Workshop (by Pearl & Thistle)

Talking to your daughter about her changing body can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it alone! CYCLE PREP: First Period Course for Girls is a science-based, values-respecting resource designed for parents and daughters to learn together. Through engaging storytelling and a simple analogy, this course explains not just periods, but the entire menstrual cycle, helping girls understand their bodies with confidence and clarity. Parents will gain the tools to continue these conversations at home, making this an experience you can share—not just a one-time talk.

Catholic families can trust that CYCLE PREP aligns with a faith-based vision of the body, consistent with Theology of the Body and the dignity of God’s design. While not explicitly religious, the course presents the beauty of the female body in a way that affirms its natural function and purpose. Learning side-by-side strengthens the parent-daughter bond, creating a foundation of trust, openness, and appreciation for the gift of womanhood. Ready to start the conversation?

What is Cycle Prep?

This 90-minute parent-daughter workshop introduces girls (ages 9-12) to menstrual cycles, periods, and the language of their bodies in a positive, adult-supported environment. Cycle Prep encourages girls to respect their bodies and equips them to navigate the natural changes which come with menstrual cycles.

Registration Details

This workshop will be held in the parish center at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (4505 Elizabeth Street, Texarkana 75503). Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Families are invited to attend the 9:00am Saturday morning Mass at Sacred Heart. Check in for the workshop will begin at 9:30am, and the event will begin at 10:00am.

The cost to attend this workshop is $30/family(one ticket per family needed). At checkout the registration form will ask for the names, ages, and grades of each child attending with you.

This program is designed to be experienced by parents and daughters TOGETHER. Though this is typically a mother, any mother-figure, dad or other person who has a close relationship with the girl attendee is welcome. The important thing is for each girl to have a support person who attends with them, so they can bring the experience back to her home life.

What to Expect:

The Diocese has purchased a group hosting license to show the Cycle Prep videos in a group format. There are about 8 different video segments that we will go through that will be broken up with group discussion, parent-child discussion, and opportunities for Q & A.
