2026 Bishop's Appeal for Ministries
Take Courage!
As we look to the year ahead, we join the universal Church in celebrating the leadership of our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV. Closer to home, we joyfully welcome the leadership of our new shepherd, Bishop Gregory Kelly, here in the Diocese of Tyler.
The 2026 Bishop’s Appeal has been renamed: Bishop’s Appeal for Ministries (BAM). The new name emphasizes the focus of the appeal on providing support for the essential ministries that serve the faithful of the diocese. This year’s theme: Take Courage, Bishop Kelly’s episcopal motto, invites us to embrace God’s mercy and allow that mercy to fill us with the strength and courage needed to respond wholeheartedly to the Lord’s call. It is a call to healing and transformation, enabling us to go out to others with the healing love of Jesus Christ, to give as a gift to others the gift that we have received from God.
In a world often marked by hardship and division, it takes courage to stand firm in faith, act with mercy, and become agents who carry the gifts of hope to others: to be missionary disciples. Your support of our ministries allows the church in the Diocese of Tyler to be a beacon of Christ’s light to others in East Texas.
