Bishop Gregory Kelly was appointed the Bishop of Tyler on Friday, December 20, 2024 by Pope Francis. He will be installed on Monday, February, 24, 2025. Due to the limited seating, tickets are required to attend the installation Mass. For information on the installation liturgies, please see below.

About the Installation Liturgies
When and where are the installation liturgies?
Two major liturgical celebrations will mark the installation of Bishop Kelly:
Evening Prayer
Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 5 p.m.
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler
This event will be open seating, no ticket is required.
Doors will open at 3:45 p.m.
At this liturgy, Bishop Kelly will formally enter the Cathedral and make his Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity.
Mass of Installation
Monday, February 24, 2025 at 2 p.m.
W.T. Brookshire Center in Tyler
Attendance is by ticket only.
Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.
At this liturgy, the Apostolic Mandate will be read and shown to the people. Then, Bishop Kelly will be officially installed as Bishop of Tyler.
Public receptions will be held on-site following both liturgies.
How do I attend the liturgies? Are tickets required?
For Evening Prayer on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 5 p.m. at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler, no ticket is required. Admittance is on a first-come basis. The doors of the Cathedral will open at 3:45 p.m.
For the Mass of Installation on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the W.T. Brookshire Center in Tyler, attendance is by ticket only. Each parish will be allotted a number of tickets and the pastor will distribute those to the community (parishes will have tickets beginning Feb. 1). Due to the limited seating, you MUST have a ticket for the Mass of Installation. Please contact your parish office to obtain a ticket.
Will the installation liturgies be live streamed?
Both Evening Prayer on Sunday, February 23, 2025, and the Mass of Installation on Monday, February 24, 2025, will be live streamed. Please check back here for the links.
How long will the installation liturgies last?
The Evening Prayer on Sunday, February 23, 2025, is expected to last about 75 minutes and the Mass of Installation on Monday, February 24, 2025, is expected to last about two hours.
Who will be the celebrants for the liturgies?
Bishop Joe Vásquez, Bishop of Austin and Apostolic Administrator of th Diocese of Tyler, will preside at the Evening Prayer on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, will preside over the introductory rites of the Mass of Installation on Monday, February 24, 2025. Once Bishop Kelly is installed during the Mass, he will then become the principal celebrant.
