The Sanctity of Life Action Committee in the Diocese of Tyler has planned a special Mass in Reparation of Roe vs. Wade for the “Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children” on January 22, 2022.

I encourage all the faithful in the Diocese of Tyler to enter into a day of prayer & penance on the tragic anniversary of Roe vs. Wade on Saturday, January 22nd.  In particular, I would ask that you make a pilgrimage to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for a special Mass in reparation at 12 noon on that day.  Let us atone for the over 64 million unborn children whose lives have been tragically cut short due to this unjust decision.

Bishop Joseph Strickland

The General instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) assigns January 22 as a special day of prayer and penance, called the “Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children.”

“In all the Dioceses of the United States of America, January 22 (or January 23, when January 22 falls on a Sunday) shall be observed as a particular day of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life and of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion.” (GIRM, no. 373)

As Christians, we are all called to observe this day through prayer and fasting. In this spirit, the Sanctity of Life Action Committee in the Diocese of Tyler has planned a special Mass in Reparation of Roe vs. Wade.

The Mass will be on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 12:00pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler.
