Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The effects of the devastation from the flooding in Central Texas continues to unfold in the lives of so many in our state. Please keep all those affected in your prayers during this time, especially commending to the Lord all those who lost their lives. Let us pray for them and for their family and friends who are in anguish at their loss. Let us also pray for those who are missing still, and for emergency crews who are searching for them.
There will be a special collection at all the Masses this coming weekend (July 12-13) to provide the assistance needed by so many during these difficult days. Our support as a diocese will be coordinated through Catholic Charities of East Texas. Please consider providing financial aid for those affected by this crisis by participating in the special collection.
Thank you for your prayers and whatever financial support you can provide in response to this disaster. May God bless all those most directly involved. May he receive those who have died into his loving hands; may he console those grieving their loss and injury. May he guide the efforts of emergency personnel and keep them safe in their work.
