The Truth About Vatican II Classes: Fr. Gavin Vaverek, JCL will be hosting a two part series on the Second Vatican Council. These classes will explore topics such as: Why is Vatican II still important for us? What did they hope to accomplish? Was the council a good thing or a bad thing? The classes will be hosted at two locations. Theology of Marriage and Dance Weekend Retreat for Singles: Please join us for a weekend retreat uniting catechesis on Holy Matrimony with ballroom dance lessons, specially designed for single young adults (ages 18-35) hosted by Dr. Foster and Mrs. Juliana Lerner. Come discover the many foundational life lessons to be learned through ballroom dance, including masculine and feminine roles, attentive attunement to your partner, and effective communication skills that will prepare you well for Holy Matrimony. This retreat will focus on finding God’s plan for our lives, living in harmony with it, and following His divine lead. We will be covering the first three lessons of the Ballroom Basics six part series, and all attendees will be eligible to participate in future semi-regular dance lessons building on these fundamental skills. Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass: All couples in the Diocese of Tyler who are celebrating an anniversary that ends in 0 or 5 or 50 or more years of marriage in the year 2026 are cordially invited to attend the Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass on Saturday, February 14, 2026 celebrated by Bishop Gregory Kelly. The Mass will begin at 2:30 pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (423 S Broadway Ave, Tyler, TX 75702). There will be a reception at the Cathedral Center following the Mass. For God Alone Retreat with the Lufkin Dominican Sisters: The Dominican Sisters at the Monastery of the Infant Jesus in Lufkin are hosting a series of retreat days for college age women. These retreats will follow the monastic schedule with the nuns. The dates for upcoming retreat days are February 21, 2026, April 11, 2026, and June 6, 2026 from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Feel free to attend more than one retreat. This retreat day will help women get away from the busy world and be alone with the Lord.
