Wonderfully Made: Your Body Matters (Mother/Daughter Workshop)
In this one-day workshop we will review how our female bodies are designed, specifically how our menstrual cycles & hormones provide important information regarding our overall health. We will also discuss what it means to be created in the image and likeness of God, and how virtue helps us to be fully human. This series is designed to encourage communication between moms and daughters as well as provide practical tools for navigating cycle awareness. Moms will receive an information packet by email to help them prepare for the content that will be covered.
Ages: This series is designed for girls ages 13-17 and their mothers
If you have additional questions please contact Deanna Johnston in the Family Life Office at djohnston@dioceseoftyler.org.
Program Overview
Wonderfully Made Mother Daughter Ministry is offered by the Diocese of Tyler. It aims to accompany mothers and their daughters through important conversations regarding health, wellness, virtue, and the goodness of God’s design. This program is intended for girls ages 13-17.
This workshop will cover topics such as anatomy and physiology, cycle awareness, the role of hormones in overall health, as well as growing in virtue and the beautiful Catholic teachings on what it means to be made in God’s image.
Considerations for Parents: Parents, especially mothers, play a crucial role in the education of their daughters about their bodies. Each daughter is unique, requireing personalized approaches. You know your daughter best! Your relationship with her will set a strong foundation for approaching certain topics at the right time.
Preparing Your Daughter
- She should understand that her body is changing and be ready to learn more.
- She should be at least 13 years old.
- She should have had 2 or more cycles by the time of this workshop
Note for Moms: While this workshop will provide a very good foundation for understanding cycles, we will not cover charting in these sessions. “Charting for Girls” course from Pearl and Thistle, or a FEMM class are great options for more in depth information about charting.
