After significant prayer and discernment, Bishop Joe S. Vásquez, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Tyler, has made the decision to discontinue the effort to establish an Oratory of St. Philip Neri in Winona, Texas.
This effort had been connected with Veritatis Splendor, a private association of the faithful and a privately-owned housing community also located in Winona established in 2021.
We recognize the service of the priests associated with this effort who will be returning to their home dioceses or other assignments from their bishops, effective August 1, 2024.
Over the coming weeks, Bishop Vásquez will be evaluating how to best serve the small Catholic community through the nearby diocesan parishes. Bishop Vásquez continues to hold in prayer all involved in this community, asking the intercession of Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
