Tribunal Training for Deacons and Laity

The Diocese of Tyler Tribunal is offering training for deacons and laity who wish to serve as Canonical Advocates or Tribunal Assistants in marriage cases. Training will take place on Saturday, Oct. 2 and 9 at the Chancery in Tyler.

The Tribunal Assistants help couples in the process of submitting a petition to the Tribunal for a Declaration of Nullity. The Canonical Advocates provide canonical support for the parties throughout the process. Many couples find the completing of the petition emotionally and practically challenging.

We will be offering training at this session for both Tribunal Assistants and Canonical Advocates. Tribunal Assistants will also receive mentoring so that they can effectively help couples identify what Tribunal process is necessary and help them complete the petition appropriately. Canonical Advocates receive a bit more training in the canon law of the process and mentoring, so that they can help the parties as they go through the canonical process.

Registration can be done by contacting Dyana Noriega at (903) 266-2172 or tribunalsecretary@dioceseoftyler.org. The cost is $10 to cover materials and lunch. Please send checks to Tribunal: payable to Diocese of Tyler, 1015 ESE Loop 323, Tyler, TX 75701. Zoom option also available for those who cannot attend in person.

The event is finished.
